Pantelleria Passito Liquoroso                                                     BTL 375ml £22.50 / Glass £7.50

The jewels in the Carlo Pellegrino crown are the dessert wines from the island of Pantelleria, a volcanic outcrop of black lava rock situated off the arid Tunisian coast which forms Italy’s southernmost DOC region. The Passito is made with about 20% sun dried grapes added to the must; the result is an elegant and complex tasting wine; delicious poured over ice cream.

Vin Santo ‘Donato’ Antinori                                                          BTL 500ml £33.00 / Glass £ 6.80

Vin Santo is made in a very old and traditional method, the grapes are harvested and then dried for three to six months in a traditional (appassimento) method. The grapes are then vinified into small barrels made from cedar or oak called caratelli. The resultant wine is somewhat “Sherry-like” in character, sweet with enough acidity to keep them from being cloying.

Medium gold colour with peachy-honey aromas. A rich wine that is fresh, with elegance and complexity and in whose concentrated sweetness is balanced by good acidity.
